Down on the Farm

We checked a fall tradition off the bucket list this weekend by visiting a local farm to go apple picking. Over the past several years we've gone to a large, well-known apple picking farm in the area. It's great fun--but it's a bit of a hike from our house, and can be pricey and super crowded on the weekends. This year, since my husband was working and it was just the kiddos and me, we opted to try a closer, smaller farm.  We went to Centennial Farms in Augusta, MO and we weren't disappointed!

Down on the farm!

Goofballs!

My girl...

First, the weather was perfect.  It was overcast with a slight breeze, and just cool enough to remind you it's fall, but not too cool to enjoy the great outdoors!  The farm was only about a 35-minute drive from our home and wasn't crowded at all for a Saturday afternoon.  When we arrived the kiddos were stoked about their fun play area!

Perfect fall weather!
The decorations were just adorable. The kiddos had such a fun time exploring and posing with their cute outdoor decor.

When we checked in we found out that their tractor was not operating and that it would be a five-minute walk to the apple orchards. No problem! The walk was really short and we were apple picking in no time!

Honestly, the trees were pretty picked over, but it was the last weekend of the season for apple picking at their farm. So, next year we'll make sure to get there earlier in the season.  Still, we took home some great apples and had a fantastic time picking them ourselves.

The kiddos enjoyed eating some fresh-picked apples while we were out in the orchards. They said that they were the best apples they've ever tasted. There's just something about picking a piece of fruit yourself and the satisfaction it brings! It made my heart smile!

After we picked our apples we checked out at their cute little country store. The kiddos were smitten with the flavored honey straws and apple butter samples. We brought home some apple butter to enjoy at home and remember our special day together.

All in all, it was the perfect way to spend a dreary Saturday afternoon. We'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Have blessed Monday, Y'all!!

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with Friday Favorites!

Here are a few of my favorite things...

* Fall-like weather...

One of the perks of living in the midwest is having four distinct seasons.  I love it! With each new season, I'm ready for the change on many levels.  The forecast is calling for highs in the 60's over the next few days which means we'll be dressed like this and enjoying fall family traditions like going to the pumpkin patch! :)

*Fall Decor

Fall decor is one of my favorites!  Over the next several days I'll be decking the halls for fall and share a little fall house tour.

* IKEA!
    Speaking of decorating, IKEA just opened in our area! I've never been to an IKEA, but have been wanting to for years! I need to start saving up for some fun pieces like two of these chairs for our master bedroom!  Love.  :)

*First field trip fun!

Yesterday I went with this guy on his first field trip as a kindergartener!  It was a blessing to meet some of his new buddies and to see how he's adjusting to elementary school.  Sweet boy. :)

*Fall Style Challenge..

The Fall Style Challenge is in full swing! A few of my favorite pieces I'm adding to my wardrobe for this challenge are this rose colored top I picked up over the weekend at White House Black Market using a gift card, these burgundy skinnies from AEO (if you need a long size, like I do, you can currently get them for $23 using the promo code "online25"), and this scarf  from Charlotte Russe (it's on sale for $5).  I would not have come up with this color combo on my own, but I really like the way the pieces flow and will be versatile in my wardrobe! For more style inspiration check out Alison's blog, Get Your Pretty On.
